Lotusphere Day 1: OGS and more

The Good: As always, it's great to get down here and meet up with old friends, make new ones and put faces to all those people that we've learned to connect with over the year.Traffic seems to be up at the booth and there are a lot of people moving around
500 College kids were brought in to expose them to the Lotus Brand
Beer at the Product Showcase, but isn't beer always good?
The opening band, Mass Ensemble
The theme: Get Social. Do Business
Blackberry Playbook
Kevin Spacey - He was good, genuine and right on the mark of the theme
The Bad:
Internet connections at the hotel
Alistair Rennie asking if there were any Nerds (not a way to start your opening talk)
The first demo was of a Blackberry Playbook, not a Lotus product.
No major announcements
The Ugly:
The complete miss on the OGS. Yes above I said the Theme was good. It's a great message, just the wrong audience. We ALL get it. The ones you are trying to "Sell" this too are back in the offices in charge not sitting here.
1 hour 20 minutes + of the OGS and until the first demo
500 college students who you want to engage your software and message and you missed the boat to excite them.
2 Customer panels - 1 was bad enough, but never once did they mention the IBM product they used. For all we know, they may not be.
Panelist reading from the tele-prompter.
Overall, I thought message was the same one I saw last year with Project Vulcan. I never expected PV to be a product, it appeared as a vision which is great. But when we got to the demo Notes Next, it was like the same thing I remember last year. We are going to connect your email and everything else.
